Unclassified Position pursuant to OAC 5120.382.

What You’ll Do:

  • Requires thorough knowledge of network support services, digital and cyber security, virtual server environment, active directory and group policy
  • Supervises information technology staff responsible for assessing, designing, monitoring &/or maintaining DRC Network and Digital Security domains
  • Supervises subordinate supervisor staff as required
  • Stays abreast of new technologies and industry standards and or risks (e.g., security hardware and software) and trains lower-level security staff on same
  • Responsible for agency cyber incident response and advises agency on all cyber security events and risks within the enterprise
  • Directs and oversees activities of units involved in Network and Security and monitors unit activities
  • Participates in long-range planning for purchasing, designing and installing equipment
  • Evaluates costs and feasibility of testing equipment and vendor products
  • Oversees activities and provides supervision to infrastructure staff
  • Develops security response procedures and creates documentation
  • Monitors work in progress, provides orientation and trains new staff and/or recommends training seminars/classes for staff
  • Assists in preparation of budget
  • Works with other IT supervisors and/or team leads to ensure development and standardization of policies and procedures related to desktop and network security
  • Responsible for developing and implementing DRC IT policies, establishing, and overseeing infrastructure and operations systems and change methodologies, desktop, and server patching, advising and supporting DRC business units (Education, OPI, Institutions, Operations) in developing secure innovative service and system delivery options
  • Implements and monitors administration of network security hardware and software (e.g., ASA Firewalls, Websense Proxies, McAfee)
  • Enforces the network security policies, monitoring network for security threats or unauthorized users/access, and responsible for overseeing security audits and/or critical controls security assessments
  • Assist with gathering evidence regarding cybercrimes
  • Provides direction and/or participates in documenting and communicating problem resolutions with other information technology staff
  • Responds to incidents on a 24 hour basis
  • Attends meetings, trainings and conferences and may give presentations and conduct training

Qualifications
Completion of undergraduate core program or associate degree in computer science, electronics or data communications/telecommunications; 54 mos. exp. or 54 mos. trg. in installation, removal, repair & maintenance of data communications/telecommunications &/or electronic data processing equipment/devices; 54 mos. exp. or 54 mos. trg. in network administration; 24 mos. trg. or 24 mos. exp. in supervisory principles & techniques.
  • Or 12 mos. exp. as Network Services Supervisor, 67196.
  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
