What You'll Do:
Ohio Department of Public Safety - Director's Office (Communications Special Projects)
Report In Location: 1970 W. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43223
Work Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
(CURRENTLY HYBRID ELIGIBLE) Will report into the office 3 days a week and telework 2 days a week. (Subject to change)
THIS POSITION IS FOR OHIO DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY EMPLOYEES ONLY.
Manages video production activities, develops video projects, advises agency staff on production of video products to announce new programs & services & supervises assigned staff:
- Manages video production activities, develops video projects & consults with clients on video production activities; Consults with design staff to create graphics & animations for productions; Produces video productions, live streams, & podcasts;
- Reviews incoming requests for Audio Visual (A/V) projects & works with VCD & SSM to determine project timelines & required resources & staff; Prioritizes work assignments; Ensures timely delivery of projects & completion of project within allotted budget; Identifies & scout's locations, designs lighting set-ups, oversees audio requirements & obtains necessary model releases;
- Reviews video proofs for quality & completeness prior to customer review; Ensures project objectives are met & State of Ohio & ODPS branding guidelines are followed;
- Advises agency staff (i.e., executive & senior management staff) on production of A/V products & provides technical & creative advice to A/V team; Provides agency clients with recommendations & referrals for services not available in house;
- Develops & implements policy & procedures for A/U unit; Manages digital asset governance policy & works with VCD to review & update the policy as needed; Conducts asset audits to ensure adherence to policy & security; Makes corrections as needed;
- Establish priorities & supervise subordinate personnel (e.g., provide developmental opportunities & work direction, coach staff to foster development, monitor staff activities to ensure quality customer service & information technology security, evaluate performance, approve section staffing levels, recommend discipline, pre-screen applications & participate in interviews).
- Regularly works with ODPS Communications team to ensure department's YouTube pages are up-to-date, relevant (remove old or outdated videos), & easy to navigate (by topics/division, use of playlists, etc.);
- Monitors, analyzes, & reports on video analytics, including making suggestions about what works or doesn't;
- Maintains A/V equipment inventory & manages maintenance replacement/repair schedule; Works with Support Section Manager to approve A/V purchasing, service, & software requests;
-Serves as the leader of Visual Communications Unit - Digital Asset Management (DAM) Team & manages digital assets in Brandfolder; Organizes the media library using consistent naming conventions, sets up metadata standards, utilizes analytics, sets up integration & automation, & executes regular & routine maintenance procedures;
- Monitors & researches new & emerging trends & technology by joining relevant communities, attending training & conferences, experimenting with tools, & evaluating impacts;
- Attends meetings with or on behalf of Visual Communications Director & acts on their behalf as needed;
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
