HGA Support Services is Hiring a Human Resource Generalist Near Muskegon, MI

 
Human Resource Generalist 
This position performs a variety of administrative tasks within the Human Resources Department relative to the cycle of employment, including assisting in the talent acquisition and recruitment process, managing employee records, administering pay, benefit administration, leaves of absence, worker’s compensation, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of federal and state employment law and complaint requirements.
Essential Functions 
​Benefits administration and Oversight. Familiarity with Employee Navigator a plus. 
​Interface with external carriers/providers to provide oversight of FMLA, COBRA, short and long-term disability, workers compensation, and unemployment claims 
​Interface with the payroll/timekeeping system.
​Oversee payroll tasks.
​Support management in the employee lifecycle including posting jobs, recruitment, pre-employment screenings, interviewing, on-boarding, and off-boarding employees 
​Set up employee file and enter employee information into database systems. File documents. 
​Participate in and assist management with implementing employee trainings as needed. 
​Maintain a working knowledge of benefit programs. 
​Assist in the coordination of open enrollment periods for the agency and assist with the enrollment into agency benefits.
​Meet with employees individually or in groups to explain benefits, which may include paid time off, retirement, health plans, voluntary benefits, worker’s compensation, and flexible spending accounts. 
​Track eligibility dates for benefits 
​Assist applicants in person and by phone with employment applications when requested.
​Follow up on missed benefit deductions, especially during lay-off periods and medical leave of absences. 
​Work with Management on Employee Relations concerns. 
​Provide input on ways to improve the HR Department, employee relations, and the agency as a whole. 
​Interpret and explain human resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, and regulations. ​

Ability to work respectfully and courteously with a wide variety of individuals, including individuals with disabilities. A valid Michigan Driver’s License with less than six points. 
Travel 
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area travel may be expected. 
Physical Demands of the Job 
​​​Sedentary work. No more than 10 pounds and occasionally lifting or carrying small items.​ 
​​While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard reach, stoop kneel to install computer equipment.​​
