Description

The Staff Accountant is responsible for compiling and maintaining accounts payable and receivable records, as well as performing other routine accounting tasks. The Staff Accountant is also expected to assist with month- and year-end close, as well as special projects under the direction of the Controller. The Staff Accountant is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of 3 days per week on-site. This position is also eligible for Summit Brewing Company's full benefits package.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND OUTCOMES:

• Accounts Receivable
• Process all invoices and returns, beer transfers when notified, and all credit/debit requests.
• Weekly receivable collections 
• Make deposits (weekly) and obtain change orders (as needed).
• Accounts Payable
• Process all incoming invoices and prepare payments based on controller’s approval.
• Maintain Use Tax schedule and Purchasing Refund Schedule.
• Purchasing Use Tax refund and self-assess taxations.
• Research proper tax treatment on invoices, when applicable.
• Calculate, submit and follow-up on monthly SPRWS water bill credit.
• Prepare check payments/invoices. 
• Prepare and process weekly checks for general payables and payroll.
• Timely completion of month- and year-end close, including journal entries and reconciliations, as assigned.
• Review credit card expense reports for use tax liability and purchasing tax refunds.
• Provide audit support and assist with preparation for audits.
• Setup and maintain customer and vendor master lists, including sales tax exemption certificates and W9s, and maintain filing system.
• Provide ad hoc reporting and account analysis as necessary.
• Record all financial transactions using ERP system (Oracle NetSuite)
• Regularly reconcile balance sheets
• Adhere to all policies and standards to maintain a safe and welcoming work environment. 
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or 3-5 years accounting experience required.
• Required understanding of accounting concepts, practices, and procedures in accordance with US GAAP 
• Oracle NetSuite experience strongly preferred. 
• High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
• Advanced knowledge of Excel preferred, including pivot tables, vlookups, and sumifs. 
• Prior experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. 
• Professional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills required. 

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Able to sit for the length of work shift, up to eight hours. 
• Able to work in conditions typical of an office, and quiet to moderately loud environments. 
• Able to frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.
