Position Overview:

This position is responsible for supporting activities related to accounting within the company. The Accounting Specialist will provide assistance in support of the Accounting function including, but not limited to managing business transactions, accounts receivable, accounts payable and posting to general ledger.

What your day will look like

• Compiles and sort documents including invoices, work orders, vouchers, and substantiates business transactions.

• Verifies and posts details of business transactions such as funds received and disbursed; totals accounts to ledger and/or spreadsheets

• Investigates problems that vendors or purchasing may have with obtaining bill payment

• Prepares invoices, checks, account statements, reports, and general ledger accounts with various registers; reconciles statements, maintains journals and ledgers, customer bill back programs, etc.

• Monitors accounts payable and receivables to insure payments are made.

• Reconciles finished goods and raw materials inventory.

• Maintain and file 1099 documents.

General Responsibilities

• Actively participate in Food Safety and Food Defense related activities.

• Maintain confidentiality of company information and data.

• Perform additional duties as directed.

Education & Experience

• 2-year degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• 2 years’ experience in accounting including A/P, A/R, general ledger, financial analysis, etc.

• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principles

• Knowledge and experience of accounting computer applications

• Solid computer skills including spreadsheet applications

Position Backup

• Absences covered by the Finance Manager or a designate of the Finance Manager

• Absences Cover for either AR/AP or vice versa.

Physical requirements

• Occasional walking

• Ability to sit for extended periods of time; 6-8 hours per day.

• Ability to bend, twist, turn frequently.
