Job Summary: The Human Resources Director provides core human resources support to the business units, particularly in the areas of performance management, team building, investigations, change management, leadership development, and discipline. Manages multiple areas of responsibility including but not limited to Training, Engagement, Talent Acquisition, Licensing, Labor Relations, Benefits and Wardrobe.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Yes, will supervise direct reports including HR Managers and the Wardrobe Department.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Capable of translating business priorities into HR programs, processes, and initiatives that drive value and meet the business needs.
  • Serves as the first point of contact and first-line communications to leaders and team members regarding general human resources related questions/issues providing accurate and appropriate information or guidance or escalating as appropriate
  • Acts as an internal consultant by analyzing and recommending solutions to human resources issues specific to the designated internal client group
  • Consult with department leaders on a broad range of human resource issues, including talent planning, career mobility, retention, engagement, work actions, performance management, and other related areas focused on developing a high-performance team.
  • Identify and drive the sharing of best practices across the property to facilitate continuous improvement.
  • Coach leaders to accelerate leadership effectiveness by applying the leadership skill set to include how to develop and implement engaging work environments and proper HR processes.
  • Oversees Benefits Program including the company’s health and welfare plans, specifically the medical, dental, life, disability, 401K benefit plans, FSA and COBRA.
  • Drive change management practices to enable organizational effectiveness, incorporating diversity, equity & inclusion strategies to maximize our competitive advantage and skills of the workforce.
  • Partnerships with business leaders, develop strategies to foster employee engagement and commitment.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; obtaining qualified opinions; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Answers non-routine requests for information on policy interpretation
  • Maintains knowledge and understanding of laws and regulations related to EEO, affirmative action, collective bargaining, unions, labor relations, and human resources.
  • Assists with preparation of plans, policies, documents, and reports including EEO-1, affirmative action plans, organizational charts, labor agreements, and employee handbooks.
  • Assists with preparation of documents and records required for contract negotiations, meetings, and negotiations with employee and labor organizations
  • Responsible for developing processes, budgets, creating SOPs and training accordingly.
  • Partner with external/internal counsel as needed/required.
  • Understand, apply, and teach retention concepts to attract, motivate and retain employees.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Three (3) plus years’ experience in HR leadership or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong understanding of federal and local labor laws.
  • A strategic thinker and creative problem solver who takes the initiative and ownership
  • Track record in developing teams and building skillsets.
  • Experience and working knowledge of various HR functions i.e. recruiting, employee relations, labor relations, benefits, payroll, HRIS, etc.
  • Self-starter with a creative mind and a track record of putting ideas into practice and assessing results.

Certifications, Licenses, and/or Registrations:

  • PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP or SCP preferred.
  • Gaming license/registration as required by jurisdiction(s).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and project management skills, with particular attention to quality and detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of the business drivers in the industry.
  • Demonstrates the ability to establish credibility and rapport with operating leaders.
  • Ability to analyze data, understand trends, and develop recommendations for action based on the analysis.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to work in noisy, smoke-filled environment with flashing lights.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and days of the week, including holidays.
