Job Summary:

Responsible for aligning human resources programs with overall department strategies, goals, and objectives.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  1. Partners with department management to align human resources programs with business unit plans.
  2. Provides counsel to department management regarding the effective use of high value human resources programs to achieve strategic business goals.
  3. Monitors talent attraction, retention, training needs, employee morale, work environments, and overall engagement and provides recommendations to the talent strategies and total rewards teams.
  4. Administers the talent management, workforce planning, and succession planning processes with department management in partnership with the talent strategies and total rewards teams.
  5. Facilitates group meetings such as focus groups or engagement workshops as needed.
  6. Administers the performance management process and annual base salary adjustment process with department management in partnership with the total rewards team.
  7. Identifies and recommends opportunities to use data to assist in strategic decision making and tracks and analyzes key human resources metrics across the business unit.
  8. Facilitates the change management process through effective communications to implement business unit changes.
  9. Provides counsel to department management on employee communications, employee relations, and labor relations needs.
  10. Recommends and implements human resources strategies and policies, short and long term business planning, and special projects as assigned.

Perform other related assigned duties as necessary to complete the Primary Job Responsibilities as described above.

Requirements:

Position requires a bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field and three years of experience in human resources, including progressively more responsibility in employee relations, labor relations, performance management, compensation, training and development, recruiting, benefits, HRIS, and/or employee communications. Professional certification and previous experience in a union environment preferred. Will accept any suitable combination of education, training, or experience.

Position requires knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software applications; knowledge of employee relations, talent acquisition, organizational effectiveness, total rewards, and HRIS strategies; strong interpersonal skills; strong written and verbal communication skills; strong analytical skills; the ability to plan, organize, and establish priorities; and the ability to resolve problems using independent judgment.
