JOB SUMMARY :

The County Clerk seeks a full time Clerk I to fill a vacancy in their office. The duties of the Clerk I in the County Clerk's Office processes transactions for the department and maintains files of the County Clerk which include election data, birth certificates, death certificates, marriage certificates, assumed name business registrations, Statement of Economic Interest filings, Notary Public registrations, voter registrations, tax redemption, County Board files, County contracts, maps, and tax extension.

Fixed rate of pay : $18.32 / HR

This is a union position with AFSCME. Rate of pay is set by union contract and is non-negotiable.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

  • Set up and maintain paper and electronic filing systems for records, correspondence and other material.
  • Complete forms in accordance with County Clerk procedures.
  • Operate office equipment such as fax machines, copiers, phone systems, and use computers for spreadsheet, word processing, database management, and other applications.
  • Interact with staff, elected officials, and the general public in person or by telephone in order to respond to inquiries, receive complaints, and resolve problems.
  • Provides a variety of clerical and administrative support functions for the department.
  • Compose, type, and distribute meeting notes, routine correspondence, and reports.
  • Type letters, memos, charts, labels, reports, or other correspondence.
  • Performs data entry using word processing, spreadsheet, or database commands and formats material as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :

Education and Experience :

  • High school diploma or GED; and,
  • Six months or more clerical experience in an office

Licenses and Certifications :

Valid Driver’s License

Other Qualifications :

24WPM typing / data entry
