JOB SUMMARY:

The Custodian I is responsible for housekeeping tasks, including cleaning offices, restrooms, kitchens, emptying trash and recycling, dusting, vacuuming carpets, and mopping floors. They may also clean hallways, stairs, entrances, and stock housekeeping storerooms with supplies like towels, soap, and toilet paper.

Schedule: 37.50 hours per week, 4:00pm-12:00am, Monday-Friday

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Remove trash and recyclables from assigned areas.
• Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
• Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
• Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
• Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
• Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT USED:

• Personal Computer for training on Housekeeping Policies.
• Use of Housekeeping equipment including vacuum, broom, dispensing containers, and other equipment as assigned to the position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Education and Experience:

• General knowledge of established cleaning procedures, techniques, products, and equipment used in a cleaning operation.
• High School Diploma or GED

Licenses and Certifications:

• Must have a valid Class “B” CDL license with air brake endorsement and the ability to obtain a Class “A” CDL with tanker endorsement within one year of employment.

SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Skill in:

• Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing, with the public.
• Using tact, discretion, initiative, and independent judgment within established guidelines.
• Organizing work, setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines, and following up assignments with a minimum of direction.

Ability to:

• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Successfully pass a background check and pre-employment physical.
