Martin County (Florida) is Hiring an Account Technician - Vital Records (Part-Time) Near Fairmont, MN

The Martin County Recorder's office is currently accepting applications for a part-time Account Technician - Vital Records position.

This position will be scheduled Monday through Friday, five (5) hours per day (25 hours per week total).

Under general supervision, Account Technician is responsible for the performance of technical, clerical and administrative duties pertaining to land and vital statistic records. Work is performed independently in accordance with standard procedures, statutes, and rules. Knowledge and independent judgment are required in interpreting legal documents that are presented for recording.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Issues birth and death certificates pursuant to State guidelines.
  • Processes and documents marriage license applications and issues marriage certificates.
  • Records minister credentials and notary commissions.
  • Assists customers with genealogical and real estate research as requested.
  • Reviews real estate documents for accuracy and recordability.
  • Processes documents (electronic and paper) presented for recording into computer real estate program.
  • Interprets and draws out legal descriptions.
  • Provides information to public inquiries in person, by telephone, fax and emails.
  • Participates in continuing education and training sessions on applicable job duties, law changes, computer skills and other related matters.
  • Performs other work-related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of recent progressive experience along with the skill, knowledge and abilities required; or equivalent combined education and experience.

LICENSURE

  • Valid driver’s license.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

At least three years of related experience which includes the following skills and abilities:

  • Strong working knowledge of the principles and procedures of land descriptions, transfers and title flow of property.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain clerical records and filing systems.
  • Ability to work with prioritizing workload to meet deadlines for multiple tasks and maintain efficiency with frequent interruptions.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

The position has good working conditions in general, but is a diversified job requiring sustained mental effort related to public contacts, organizational issues, planning and technical areas.

This position may encounter moderate emotional strain or tension. There is sustained exposure to sitting and standing. There is also moderate exposure to computer keyboards and video screens and moderate lifting (up to 40 pounds).

Continuous: Walk, Stand, Sit; Keyboarding; Repetitive movement; Work requires high attention to detail; Work with frequent deadlines.

Occasional: Lift or carry 11-25 lbs.; Lift, carry, push, pull 26-60 lbs.; Exposure to emotional public; Limited mental effort and/or stress; Work alone

Intermittent: Bend or stoop; Kneel or squat; Lift or carry less than 10 lbs.; Exposure to offensive language; Exposure to threats; Some mental effort and stress involved resulting in frustration.

This position is responsible for the use of county fleet vehicles, modern office machines and equipment.
