Hours: 10:30am-7:30pm / 5 days per week / 40 hours Specific Phipps Park Campground Daily Task
Using either the app on the park cell phone, iPad or desktop, determine which guests are leaving. Check out time is at 11:00am. If site is not clear and clean inform Parks Administration.
Using either the app on the park cell phone, iPad or desktop, determine which guests are arriving. Make sure their sites are open, clean, and the picnic table /fire ring are placed in the correct area.
Provide customer service by answering any questions asked by park patrons.
Communicate by phone or email with Park Administration (Mandy) any issues concerning reservations.
Empty trash
Pick up all litter and debris – including palm branches
Blow off sidewalks, crosswalks, pavilions and around restrooms
Inspect restroom for cleanliness
Clean out fire pits and grills after campers depart
Weed whip areas as needed (not maintained by contractor i.e. boat ramp) or around recently vacated RV sites
inspect contractor mowing, trimming, and weeding work
Check that sewer covers are working properly and not broken
Inspect Adventure Tents for bugs/inspects, cleanliness and tents are tied and secured properly
Inspect Laundry Area (when opened)
Report any necessary repairs, hazards or purchases needed
Distribute games or fire wood to sites that have purchased fire wood or requested games.
Inspect boat ramp area and keep the ramp free of the rocks and debris
Report any incidents
Other Duties as assigned
SUMMARY: Semiskilled work in construction, maintenance of athletic fields, landscaping, facility maintenance, inspections, and other assignments to areas of service within the Martin County Parks and Recreation department. A person in this position is required to exercise initiative and independent judgment in performance of assigned tasks. Work is primarily performed under the general supervision of a Senior Parks Specialist, Lead Parks Services Specialist, Parks Supervisor or Parks Superintendent. May assist in leading the work of crew members, community service workers/volunteers, and inmate trustees in their assigned area. Depending on the assigned area the Parks Services Specialist has oversight of various community activities related to the assigned specialized park and recreation areas and is the lead worker in the event the Senior Parks Services Specialist, Lead Parks Services Specialist or Parks Supervisor are absent. In the event of a natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee may be required to perform emergency duties as directed.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Working knowledge of the equipment, tools, methods and materials used relative to the repair And operation of park structures and features. Working knowledge of landscaping and plant care methods and techniques. Working knowledge of basic plumbing and irrigation systems. Working knowledge of occupational hazards and appropriate safely precautions. Working knowledge of cleaning materials, methods and equipment. Working knowledge of operation, maintenance and repair of small power equipment and skill in use and care of hand tools and other related materials and equipment. Ability to meet the requirements of the Inmate/Trusty Utilization Standard Operating Procedure to successfully work with inmate trusty workers. Ability to work with community service and volunteer workers. Ability to operate equipment such as mowers, tractors, light and heavy trucks with trailer units. Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment; follow oral and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and deal tactfully and diplomatically with the general public. Ability to operate and utilize computers, handheld devices and computer programs. Ability to cooperate with other units to attain common goals.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Must possess a High School Diploma or an acceptable equivalency diploma and one (1) year of experience in grounds maintenance, construction maintenance and repair, plumbing, irrigation systems, landscaping and plant care, or equipment operation.
