Position Title: Accounting Technician
Contract position with reSOURCE Government Services
Department:General Services Department (GSD)
Pay rate:$18.13 per hour benefits and PTO
Location: Stuart, FL
Address: 2555 SE Avenger Circle, Stuart, FL. 34996
Work Schedule: 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Must be able to pass criminal background and drug testing
SUMMARY:
Administrative and accounting work involving the coordination of finance, payroll and budget activities for a large department.
In the event of a natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee may be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists in the preparation of the department budget which may range from a low to high complexity level depending on the number of grant funded activities and existence of municipal tax units.
Prepares requisitions and processes purchase orders.
Ascertains available budgetary funds for reporting to Department Director.
Keeps inventory and orders department supplies.
Maintain records for initiated quotes, payments, credits and returns.
Completes credit applications and provides data to vendors for new accounts.
Interprets specifications for vendors and monitors vendor compliance with specifications.
Checks work-orders for completeness and accuracy, completes cost analysis for projects.
Issues and tracks charge backs to other departments.
Prepares statistical reports as requested.
Performs special projects as requested.
Assists in preparing monthly reports.
Prepares and enters data into the computer.
May process and report department payroll data.
May provide supervisory assistance to entry level staff.
Performs work related to this job description as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of government finance, accounting, general ledger and record keeping requirements.
Knowledge of standard office procedures.
Skill in the use of computers and word-processing office software and spreadsheet applications.
Skill in keyboarding for data entry and computer applications.
Skill in performing bookkeeping and accounting tasks.
Ability to operate standard office machines.
Ability to keep and maintain accurate records and to create applicable reports.
Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a high volume environment.
Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely orally and in writing.
Ability to communicate effectively and politely, and to establish and maintain effective relationships with others internal and external to the organization.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Must possess an Associate’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or closely related field and two (2) years of related experience performing financial, accounting or budgetary duties.
Additional qualifying education and/or experience which provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted one for the other on a year for year basis.

Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License
