POSITION SUMMARY
The Maintenance & Engineering Manager will oversee the maintenance program and lead the engineering and maintenance team. The manager has a critical role in connecting operations with engineering and maintenance focuses in order to improve equipment design, reliability and maintainability. This role also leads the site engineering design and plan efforts by utilizing available and applicable technology for the site processes and performance. The Maintenance & Engineering Manager manages capital projects as specified by facility requirements and company goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):
Effectively manages the maintenance & engineering personnel
Assigns and tracks work orders for PMs on all Food Production & Packaging equipment
Ensures optimization of scheduling & completion of Breakdown Maintenance tasks
Maintains PM maintenance logs to comply with Food Safety and Operational requirements
Ensure Parts, Tools & Supplies are on-hand or ordered to meet objectives timely
Identifies and captures opportunities for improvement in equipment maintainability and reliability.
Supports All Levels of Management in planning for equipment, managing the infrastructure, ancillary equipment, maintenance resources, and correcting existing discrepancies
Evaluates, develops, and administers effective preventive and predictive maintenance (PM) within the CMMS to support optimal machine performance, any compliance related to building permits, facility insurance, fire prevention systems related to all buildings.
Analyze equipment history to identify specific repetitive failures and effectively address identified areas.
Analyze planned downtime of equipment to improve uptime and PM schedules.
Review equipment failures to determine root cause and PM action to prevent failure and protect against reoccurrence. Revise PM instruction accordingly
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical or industrial engineering preferred
Five (5) years of hands-on experience in equipment maintenance & engineering in a manufacturing/packaging environment with preference for three (3 ) years of experience at the management level.
Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Top level project management skills with ability to identify equipment improvements, manage change and implement solutions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand. The employee is occasionally required to sit; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and twist, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift, move, push, and/or pull up to 25 pounds. The employee must frequently use computers and other special operating equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job included occasionally distinguishing with a degree of accuracy, difference or similarities in intensity or quality of flavors and/or odors. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and hot liquids.
