The Role:

The Service Engineering Manager is responsible for the Service Order and SSQ processing, drawing updates, engineering changes, service documentation, maintenance instructions and spare parts list creation. Manages resources to provide quality technical support and parts identification. Hires, coaches and develops a team of technical professionals, fostering a continuous improvement mindset.

What You Will Do:

  • Provides guidance on electrical/mechanical matters required by the Engineering personnel within the department. Directs Engineering personnel in developing complex conversions to both standard and non-standard products. 
  • Responsible for assurance that service components meet applicable requirements and that Engineering Change Procedures are adhered to.
  • Supervises the design and drafting function to achieve maximum utilization of available resources.
  • Coordinates department resources, Service Engineers, Designers and Technical Writing to assure corporate objectives associated with new product development, field corrections and training are met in accordance with their respective schedules.
  • Maintains Service documentation systems for the development and review of manuals, PM standards, installation standards, procedural updates and field communications. 
  • Provides direction and guidance to the Service Engineering Group in the form of continued training and escalation support to resolve complex customer and technician field issues.
  • Actively participates in and promotes the Quality Improvement Process for all products. Assigns designated staff for ongoing projects including new products, current and non-current products as well as field corrections and enhancement projects.
  • Manages resources to maintain targets for the technical support and parts ID call center. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required 
  • Qualified experience in a customer service environment with resultant knowledge of customer account coordination.
  • 3 years experience in directly leading people or cross-functional project teams. Prefer previous experience with direct people management. 
  • Minimum 5 – 8 years of experience in an engineering environment. Prefer medical device. 
  • Knowledge of Engineering processes including: design change control, documentation, inventory control, complaint handling and regulatory/quality reporting.
  • Demonstrated track record of leadership, interpersonal, collaborative relationship building skills and human capital management, including but not limited to recruitment, selection, development, performance management and employee engagement.
  • Demonstrated influence skills. Must be able to diplomatically persuade others and effectively drive continuous improvement/change. Ability to communicate across all levels of large organizations. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in PC applications including Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • 10-15% travel may be required.
