About the role:

We are looking for a competitive leader who wants to take a hands-on approach with their team. They want to be recognized as one of the best in the industry. This role requires a person with a high level of self-confidence while also having the humility to know their past successes may not be what is needed to accomplish the goals, we have here at WIT Transport. You will be successful in this position if you understand that technical knowledge is just as important as the health of the whole team and avoiding difficult situations or conversations. The Director of Operations oversees and manages our daily sales, operations, staffing, planning, budgeting, compliance. You will be responsible for ensuring the efficiency, profitability, and growth of our operations, as well as maintaining high standards of service and performance. You will report directly to the COO and work closely with other senior leaders and stakeholders including the President.

Responsibilities:

· Research, design, collaborate with the President and COO on development long-term comprehensive logistics plans which drives full utilization of assets, promotes optimal customer service, and meet the Company’s financial goals. Drives 100% full fleet utilization with the team while meeting customer’s service performance requirements

· Workflow creation, refinement, and adhered to by its team.

· Develop and monitor brokerage carrier development and performance

· Rate/Cost analysis and implementation across carrier and customer base

· Ability to coach and develop operations direct reports to further their skills and create a high performance culture.

· Comfortable in fast paced environment and able to lead team through high stress situations.

· Employee hiring, training, development, assessments, management, leadership, and career path plans.

· Direct and assist team in dispatch and brokerage operation

· Develop new logistics services

· Close new customer business and growth existing customer business

· Experience Reviewing and managing a profit and loss statement in coordination with COO and President

· Manage team to hit KPI’s set by COO

  • Revenue
  • Margin (COS is a combination with Ed) (Broker COS is the Director's responsibility)
  • Profit (Operating Expenses are the Director's responsibility)
  • On-Time Performance
  • 3rd party carrier rate vs. market by market and mode
  • Fleet Capacity
  • 3rd party Capacity

· Forecast capacity needs and recommend solutions

  • Be responsible for customer relationships

Issues come and pass, while relationships in the team are every day. Typically an instigator of conflict is a good Refiner.
  • Inventor/Problem Solver under stress, demonstrate how one creates new ideas, discerns solutions and outcomes while under stress. Has the person dealt with an emergency situation.
  • Aggressive (Builder), demonstrates the need to push forward while showing discipline to know when to hold back for the moment. Typically aggressiveness also ties to being a Builder.
  • Need to be the Best, demonstrates the ability to understand the value of criticism and accept harsh while honest criticism from their managers, peers, and employees.
