Description

HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST

Role Summary:

The HR Specialist is responsible for partnering with employees and leadership staff, providing daily human resources functional support focusing on talent acquisition, onboarding and HRIS management while providing support for employee relations, benefits, compensation, payroll and employee engagement. This position demonstrates a high level of integrity, a strong depth of human resources compliance knowledge, and a proactive approach to customer service. This position requires a self-motivated professional who anticipates and takes action proactively with some direct supervision and has the ability to handle a multitude of priorities using proven project management skills in a team-based working environment.

Scope of the Position:

The HR Specialist will be located at the Huntsville, AL site, but will be responsible for staffing at 4 locations, including Westmoreland, TN. This position requires <25% travel to job sites and for recruiting efforts.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities expected of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Manage the entire hiring process from sourcing to offer acceptance to include creating and managing job postings, opening requisitions in the HRIS, sourcing candidates, reviewing resumes, conducting applicant interviews, scheduling interviews for hiring managers, and extending offers of employment.
  • Proactive identification of full time regular, interns and temporary candidates using multiple techniques, including: job boards, keyword searches, college and university partnership, social media, networking, employee referrals, career fairs, community organization partnerships and other effective resources.
  • Coordinates selection activities, including job postings, resume and phone screens, scheduling and participating in interviews, while spearheading recruitment problem resolution efforts.
  • Partner with staffing agencies to provide temporary employees as necessary
  • Manage process for converting temporary employees to full-time
  • Maintain accurate information in the Applicant Tracking system to include moving candidates through the recruitment workflow, respond to candidate inquiries, and complete all required requisition fields to allow for accurate and timely reporting of processes.
  • Consult and partner with hiring managers to understand business needs, develop job descriptions, position specific sourcing, and recruitment plans and identify viable candidate pools.
  • Provide timely communications and feedback to hiring managers and candidates.
  • Coordinate pre-employment forms, background checks and drug screenings.
  • Posts open positions on internal intranet and external websites; screens internal applicant resumes and schedules internal candidate interviews
  • Initiates and processes new hires, promotions, transfers, status changes and termination forms.
  • Coordinates the on-boarding process for new hires including new hire orientations.
  • Conducts timecard training and fingerprint set up during new hire orientation.
  • Coordinate the termination process including but not limited to facilitating termination documentation, conducting exit interviews, maintaining exit interview data, tracking and filing.
  • Enters data into HRIS, ensuring the accuracy of information
  • Extracts HRIS reports relative to the Human Resources function upon the request of management
  • Coordinate weekly staffing meetings for leadership and present current staffing data for each department
  • Create, review and provide weekly HR activity reports to the leadership team and department leaders
  • Maintain employee files in accordance with record keeping and retention requirements.
  • Advise employees and leaders on HR programs and practices and ensure consistent application of policies and procedures.
  • Assist managers in employee performance issues to include verbal, written or final written warnings.
  • Review and edit Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) and progressive discipline forms.
  • Serve as a backup for HR Manager; to include Payroll Processing, Benefits Administration, Leave Administration, etc.
  • Prioritize duties in a manner consistent with organizational objectives and growth.
  • Support employee engagement activities.

Position Qualifications:

Bilingual ENGLISH/SPANISH PREFERED

  • Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems, by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law
  • Well-developed team skills and unquestioned integrity
  • Experience, confidence and presence to effectively handle interpersonal relationships and sensitive HR issues
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
  • Effective written and verbal communication/presentation skills
  • Demonstrate initiative and reliability with minimal supervision.
  • Detail oriented
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask in a dynamic environment

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in Human Resources or related field or equivalent experience
  • Five to seven years administrative experience with 1 to 2 years of experience in Human Resources specializing in Talent Acquisition.

You will be expected to follow any other job related instructions and to perform other job related duties as requested by management.
