This open competitive position within the Information Technology Services (ITS) Department manages the management and developmental growth of the Network Operations team for the Government Departments and Agencies. This includes identifying/leading the resolution of problems and cross-training opportunities to provide better service to our customers. This position is expected to prove advanced knowledge and ability in the maintenance and management of network and telecommunications infrastructure as well as the associated support services.
ITS is a 24x7 information technology shop. Applicant must be willing and available to perform duties as required by the job. This may include work on nights, weekends, and holidays and may include overtime hours but only as necessary.
· Provide leadership and direct day-to-day management of assigned team members.
· Performs various supervisor duties and evaluates employee performance.
· Ensures that Telecommunication and Network Support applications, services, and equipment are running at the best levels.
· Oversee operational aspects of the voice and network infrastructure to include break-fix, EOL projects, upgrades, and customer requests for service for Cisco-based voice and network infrastructure, including Call Manager, Unified Communications, and Contact Center solutions.
· Evaluate, set up, and check key performance metrics as it relates to Incident Management and Network Operations
· Provide Change Management oversight and guidance to assigned team members including scheduling and approval support.
· Works with the Network Architect, Functional Leads, and Division Manager to recommend standard models of equipment and ensure that we have processes and plans for regular replacement of out-of-date equipment.
· Provide high-level updates to Senior and Executive Leadership teams while providing detailed oversight of assigned projects, tasks, or incidents as proper.
· Collaborate in finding and addressing gaps in service policies, practices, and procedures.
· Coordinate and communicate with multiple areas within ITS and key customers to ensure that customer needs are met within the framework of ITS standards and policies.
· Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to the network communications team, promoting professional development and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Any combination of education and experience would prepare the incumbent to perform the duties of the position at the proper level. Employees would typically have thorough (6 years) experience in networking and/or Voice services with proven experience with Cisco products, enterprise networking environments, and network performance monitoring tools. Successful candidates will also have experience communicating complex technical material to both technical and non-technical audiences and can analyze complex information to solve difficult problems.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
· Extensive background in technical team management and development
· Strong background in Network Operations
· Knowledge and understanding of Dynamic Routing Protocols (IP, OSPF, and BGP)
· Knowledge and understanding of traditional TDM and VoIP technologies.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills; interpersonal and collaboration skills
Licenses/Certifications Required:
· Valid "Class D" Driver's License
Environment:
· Work involves both field and office duties.
· Employees work primarily in an office setting under generally favorable working conditions. There may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, etc. Field work may require lifting objects as heavy as 35 pounds, standing, bending, stooping, and climbing.
· Occasional overtime may be needed if problems arise. Depending upon position location, some employees may have to serve on call 24 hours.
