The Stravitz‐SanyalInstitute for Liver Disease and Metabolic Health (SSLI) is recruiting an Administrative Assistant to support the Chief Research Office for their growinglaboratory-based shared research services. Typical responsibilities include typing memos, correspondence,and reports; serving as the department receptionist; maintaining calendars andscheduling appointments; timekeeping; performing basic travel and purchasing duties.

Position Responsibilities:

-Manage an office area to include greeting guest and visitors, ensuring supplies are fully stacked, making copies and organizing files and other administrative tasks
-Provide administrative support to ensure efficient office operations
-Maintains physical and digital filing systems
-Answers phone calls and direct callers to appropriate personnel, schedule appointments, sign for incoming packages, and assist other visitors
-Respond to emails and other digital queries and correspondence
-Manage calendars for Chief Research Officer, including making travel arrangements
-Draft and edit letters, reports, and other documents
-Inputs and updates information in databases and spreadsheets
-Prepare meeting agendas and take meeting minutes
-Coordinate logistics for meetings, including room setup and catering
-Uses word processing and presentation software to create and edit documents
-Operates and maintain office equipment
-Work closely with other administrative staff and support other colleagues as needed
-Work with sensitive information with discretion to maintain confidentiality and security and ensure compliance with privacy policies and regulations.
-Ensure that deadlines are met and adapt to changing priorities

MinimumHiring Standards:

-High School Degree
-1 to 3 years of relevant professional experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
-Ability to provide excellent customer service in dealing with faculty, staff, students, and outside constituents
-Ability to adapt to change and ambiguity
-Ability to exercise strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
-Ability to meet deadlines, organize workload and juggle changing priorities Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (includes Work, Excel, PowerPoint)
-Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diversity faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications: 
-Bachelor’s Degree
