Learn more about us at www.vintnersresort.com where we Celebrate Everything™Summary: supports and coordinates pastry activities under the direction of the pastry chef and engaged in preparation of desserts, pastries, confections, and specialty baked items such as breads, pizza dough, scones, cookies etc.for the entire property including the Event Center, John Ash & Co. Restaurant, Spa, and Hotel.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Supports planned production for pastry department, according to menu or special requirements.Acts as a second in command or lead when pastry chef is unavailable.Follows recipes for production, enhances methods and procedures for self and pastry workers.Requisitions supplies and equipment.Maintains production records.Participates in preparing desserts.Participates and plans menus including seasonal menusEducation and/or Experience: Graduate of a culinary school preferred; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Food Ordering Systems Order processing systems; Excel Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Food Handlers Certificate Other Skills and Abilities: Proven ability to manage peopleCulinary breadth of knowledgeKnife SkillsFood and Safety RegulationsPhysical Demands: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
