US National Institute of Standards and Technology is Hiring a Budget Analyst Near Washington, DC

Duties

  • Analyze financial data to develop accurate budget projections.
  • Develop budget justification narratives that support funding requests and align with organizational goals.
  • Review the operating unit's budget, identify spending risks, and make recommendations to leadership.
  • Approve spending requests within the budget framework.
  • Ensure accurate recording of financial transactions, reconcile accounts, and maintain documentation for audit compliance.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on budgetary processes, policies, and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor budgetary processes and recommend improvements for efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must possess one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level (ZA-II at NIST)
Specialized experience is defined as:
  • Developing budget projections and forecasts based on the analysis of financial data, historical trends, and program requirements.
  • Creating budget justification narratives that clearly articulate funding needs, demonstrating knowledge of organizational goals and the ability to link financial requests to strategic priorities.
  • Monitoring expenditures against an approved budget, identifying potential risks or variances, and recommending corrective actions to ensure adherence to financial plans and compliance with regulations
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done. We will credit all qualifying volunteer experience in your application.
