University of Wisconsin–Madison is Hiring a Research Administrative Specialist Near Madison, WI

Job Summary:

The Research Administrative Specialist position will work within the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation and the Department of Urology. They will work directly with the principal investigators and research staff to submit proposals, monitor expenditures, invoice sponsors, review effort distributions and reconcile financial data for sponsored programs. The Research Administrative Specialist will process accounting transactions such as cost transfers, procurement, subcontract award management, and financial processing related to sponsored projects.

Responsibilities:Works directly with principal investigator(s) and/or research program director(s) to carry out research administrative functions related sponsored grants, agreements, or award management (proposal preparation through closeout).
  • 10% Serves as a liaison and expert resource for researchers regarding the interpretation of policy and procedure related to overall sponsored project management
  • 25% Works collaboratively with researchers to prepare non-technical materials for proposals, drafting contracts or agreements for review, and/or advising award setup
  • 25% Leads researchers in the preparation and/or maintenance documentation, financial management, and/or reporting requirements related to sponsored grants, contracts, or agreements
  • 5% May identify funding opportunities and disseminate to principal investigators
  • 25% Maintains and monitors grants and contract budgets
  • 10% Assures compliance with grant, contract or agreement requirements and determine whether objectives are being met

Education:

Preferred

Qualifications:

-Preferred experience with sponsored grant management in higher education
-Preferred experience with sponsored grant proposal submissions in higher education
-Preferred focus in accounting, finance or business
-Knowledge of research sponsored grants, as well as familiarity with UW-Madison and UW Health policies and procedures are preferred.
This position requires strong written and verbal communications skills, professionalism, confidentiality, accuracy, and attention to detail. Familiarity with databases and proficiency with Microsoft Office are required. Strong time management and prioritization skills, flexibility, and adaptability are essential.

Work Type:

Full or Part Time: 80% - 100%
This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $60,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
