Job Description:
The Project Manager will manage the “Mission Earth: Fusing GLOBE with NASA Assets to Build Systemic Innovation in STEM Education” project, Index 205480, that the University of Toledo has received from NASA. This NASA project is funded through a Cooperative Agreement Notice (CAN) and is designed to be responsive to NASA’s needs reaching K-12 teachers and students, undergraduate pre-service teacher, and engineering students. The Project Manager will assist the Project PI, in implementing the project and will work closely with faculty and staff at the University of Toledo and will work closely with Co-investigators from the partner institutions: Boston University, WestEd, Tennessee State University, the University of New Hampshire among others. The Project Manager will use his/her experience to assist the project P.I. steer the project towards its goals of: Improving STEM Instruction, increasing, and sustaining youth and public in STEM, Enhancing STEM Experiences for undergraduate students, and better service groups historically underrepresented in STEM.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required Education/Experienced Licensing:
Master’s degree in science or science Education
Ten (10) years of education experience in working with educational outreach grants.
Must have sound project management skills and experience.
Have In-dept understanding of education pedagogy.
Be an effective communicator.
Able to work with a large team of researchers.
Have a good understanding of NASA and the GLOBE program.
Qualifications:
Must be eligible to be GLOBE certified by the GLOBE Program (a K-12 educational outreach program funded by NASA that is in 127 countries worldwide).
Has exhibited leadership in the science education community on local, state, and national levels.
Required Communication and Other Skills:
Excellent oral and written communication skills to work with hundreds of people from young students to teachers to professors and assisting in writing reports and school curriculum.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in Science Education Outreach experience preferred.
