Job Summary:
PIC Group gas a great opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to work for one of the world’s most respected design, engineering, and project management consultancies to address a variety of tank projects within a refinery in Ohio. The Project Manager will report to the Project Director providing Project Management services to specialized tank projects for development and management of FEED scopes of work associated with upcoming tank refurbishment and or replacements within a refinery environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for meeting the project scope, budget, and schedule for refinery tank projects.
  • Implement entire project cycle for capital projects in FEED stage including scope and design development, AFE/DSP preparation and submittals, long lead material procurement, execution and preconstruction oversite.
  • Provide project direction to project team members including project controls, engineering design, legal, environmental, supply chain, construction, etc.
  • Initiate the project through required formalities and internal/external kickoff meetings.
  • Work with design and process engineers to develop projects that adhere to the Company engineering standards, code compliance, safety requirements, and other accepted industry engineering practices.
  • Support post engineering preconstruction scopes of work.
  • Engage with engineering and supply chain management, manufacturing, quality, and shipping to ensure the overall scope of supply per the quotation proposals is achieved.
  • Coordinate project delivery and proposal teams with clear and sufficient communication as to the client requirements and differentiation strategies.
  • Run large multi-faceted tank projects and multiple projects at the same time.
  • Fully understand the provisions of the contract for the project, regularly informing functional representatives of provisions, and ensuring organizational compliance with all requirements.
  • Develop project plans as required to successfully complete the project.
  • Monitor and maintain the master project schedule including identification of the critical path and near critical path items to maintain delivery and cost objectives.
  • Manage and maintain the project budget, initiate, and facilitate corrective actions to maintain financial objectives.
  • Manage all project related document reviews, authorizations, and storage as per client processes and procedures.
  • Effectively report the progress and status of the project to management and the client.
  • Adequately document all subsequent (addendum) contractual agreements, both technical and commercial, and manage project scope via Contract Change Authorizations.
  • Develop project-specific risk management plans and proactively manage technical and commercial risk throughout project execution to minimize company exposure.
  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and management to develop relationships that are conducive to the successful completion of the project.
  • Conduct Lessons Learned meetings for all projects; identify corrective actions and best practices and as part of the contract closure process.
Job Requirements:
  • Previous project delivery experience in tank related projects.
  • Familiar with project stage gate delivery methodology and gate packages and or requirements.
  • Extensive experience in effective and efficient Project Management procedures.
  • Experience with drafting proposals/quotes/bids.
  • Excellent leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Must be articulate, have a clear and analytical approach to problem solving, and good decision-making abilities.
  • Must have a 'get it done' attitude and be proactive.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Must generally understand and utilize Information Technology in the performance of work including Internet, Intranet, Microsoft Windows OS, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite and other related systems.
  • Motivated, self-starter
  • Must be willing to work onsite.
Physical Requirements:
  • Office and site environments with travel as required.
  • While on site, may require protective equipment (i.e., hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, etc.)
Education / Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction, Business or a related field, or 8 years of relevant experience, or alternatively 8 years proven experience in similar Project Management roles is required.
  • Must have previous project delivery experience in tank related projects.
  • Extensive experience in effective and efficient Project Management procedures.
  • Experience with drafting proposals/quotes/bids management/construction management services), or as part of design-build contractor (or equivalent design and construction experience).
