Position Overview
Learning assistants are sought to provide assistance in grading and classroom activities for GEOL 121 and 122.
Job Description
The student learning assistant will assist instructors with daily grading and other activities associated with GEOL 121 and 122. This can include but is not limited to serving as peer mentor, facilitating student engagement, assisting development of activities, grading and evaluation of assignments, creating study and practice tools, and leading study sessions.
Required Qualifications
A student in good academic standing with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
Preferred Qualifications
Outstanding time management and communications skills.
A general interest in Earth sciences.
Prior enrollment in GEOL 121 or 122.
