Position Overview
Job Description
10% - Identify scholarly research for inclusion in final deliverables
10% - Conduct interviews
10% - Transcribe interviews
10% - Code interviews
Required Qualifications
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, as evidenced in application materials
- At least one year of experience using web searches to gather and compile contact information
- Knowledge of journalism and mass communication theories, as demonstrated in application materials
- Ability to communicate professionally and in a timely manner with potential research participants and other members of the research team, as evidenced in application materials
- Strong attention to detail, as demonstrated in application materials
- During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments)
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to conceptualize theoretical research into empirical ideas
- Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative data
- Ability to work independently
- Demonstrated knowledge of the scholarship of media ecology and communication information infrastructure
- Passion for qualitative field research
