Other Conditions: Extramural funds. Appointments to begin approximately June 2024 or soon thereafter. Renewal contingent upon availability of funds, program needs, and satisfactory performance.
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of Principal Investigator and evaluator, provide support for a research project relating to improving writing instruction for K-8 teachers in schools with high percentages of Native Hawaiian students. Specifically, duties will include:
    • Assist with data entry and database management;
    • Create presentation and promotional material (physical and digital) for conference presentations, newsletters, and websites; 
    • Analyze quantitative data using basic statistical methods (e.g., means, standard deviations, t-tests);
    • Create tables and figures based on quantitative data findings;
    • Draft plain language summaries of quantitative and qualitative findings;
    • Other duties as assigned.
  • Under the direction of the Principal Investigator and Project Coordinator, provide support for a contract with the state Department of Health supporting a grant focused on pediatric mental health. Specifically, duties will include:
    • Assist with development stakeholder surveys and interview guides;
    • Correspond with stakeholders to schedule interviews;
    • Conduct key informant interviews with pediatric mental health stakeholders;
    • Create tables and figures based on quantitative findings;
    • Draft plain language summaries of qualitative and quantitative findings; 
    • Contribute to final report and presentation of findings;
    • Assist with other activities supporting project implementation (activities may be developed based on applicant's strengths).
    • Other duties as assigned.
  • Minimum Qualifications:
    1. Classified graduate status in good academic standing (minimum 3.0 GPA) at the University of Hawaii Manoa. 
    2. Familiarity with quantitative methods and/or qualitative research methods.
    3. Computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Zoom)
    4. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    5. Excellent organizational skills.
    Desirable Qualifications:
    1. Experience working in a postsecondary education setting.
    2. Experience in research project coordination, research methodology, survey development, manuscript/grant proposal preparation.
    3. Experience or training related to mental health services. 
    4. Self-directed.
