This position will work in EHSO Hazardous Waste Management facility where all of the hazardous waste generated at UIC is brought for proper management in accordance with the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) hazardous waste regulations. The position drives the departmental hazardous waste truck to various sites around campus to collect hazardous and non-hazardous waste. The position brings the chemical waste back to the hazardous waste facility where the waste is categorized by its physical properties for proper handling, transportation, and storage in accordance with federal and state regulations. The position involves data entry and research on chemical compounds to enter accurate data into our waste database and properly categorize waste. The position will supervise student waste technicians and coordinate more complicated chemical removals like large lab cleanouts. Will assist with environmental compliance reporting.
