Position Summary

The Assistant Controller works closely with the Chief Financial Officer and undertakes all aspects of financial and cash management, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, and internal control policies and procedures. Specifically, the Assistant Controller will oversee the accounting of family financials, including real estate comprised of a corporate headquarters location.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Responsible for accounting, reporting, and cash management for a family office and corresponding entities
• Ensure financial statements adhere to U.S. G.A.A.P. for necessary entities
• Ensure the accuracy of the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement
• Ensure transactions are posted to the proper period and accruals are prepared per U.S. GAAP
• Ensure cash transactions are posted on a timely basis (weekly) and not back-dated to prior periods that have been closed
• Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled and supported with appropriate documentation. Old items are investigated and resolved on time (within 90 days of posting)
• Ensure adequate controls are installed and that substantiating documentation is approved and available such that all pass independent and governmental audits
• Work with the CFO to develop an operating budget
• Manage statutory regulatory requirements and ensure timely submission following statutory requirements
• Develop all reporting for the family office including daily cash reports, portfolio updates, & other reports as deemed necessary.
• Tracking of family spending and ensuring appropriate supporting receipts are maintained.

• Expert Excel skills (pivot tables, Vlookups, Macros, etc.) and other MS Office Suite applications

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience and 5-10 years of recent progressively responsible experience

• Experience in Financial Forecasting and Analysis
• Experience in Multi-entity Corporate Accounting
• Experience in restructuring and optimizing financial operations for rapid growth
