Town Of Cary is Hiring a PROGRAM ASSISTANT II- DISC GOLF Near Cary, NC

Are you organized, responsible, and enthusiastic about expanding opportunities for disc golf in the community? Cary's Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources team is seeking a Program Assistant II to support the organization, implementation, project development, and supervision of disc golf programs, activities, and special events for the community, from organizing disc golf tournaments to overseeing volunteer workdays. The Program Assistant II will also play a critical role in assisting with overseeing the maintenance, care, and continued development of Cary's disc golf facilities, requiring comfort working in an outdoor environment. This position will also provide administrative and programming support for other sports leagues and programs as needed.
This is a part-time, non-benefited, year-round position, up to 20 hours a week, with a maximum of 999 hours per year. Work schedule will vary depending upon assignment and may include evenings and weekends.  Assists with various aspects of sports programs, including scheduling, facility booking and reservations, and onsite supervision of programs and events;
Performs day-to-day work related to disc golf and sports league programming including participant registration, withdrawal requests, cancellations and refunds, waitlist management, program enrollment and attendance, and instructor and participant communication (email/phone);
Assists with the administration of special events, tournaments, and sports-related activities, such as equipment distribution, uniform distribution, and league team placements;
Oversees the general care of Cary disc golf parks and performs light maintenance, cleaning, and natural resource management related to course maintenance;
Opens, sets up, and closes athletic and park facilities for programs and special events related to disc golf and other sports programs;
Proactively identifies facility and course maintenance needs and suggests solutions;
Supervises volunteer workdays and projects related to park improvements and maintenance;
Performs marketing tasks, such as creating digital/print posters, flyers, and social media content for events;
May engage in significant contact with the public, both over the phone, email, and in person in a park setting;
Represents the Department and Town in a professional manner in all interactions;
Performs other job-related tasks as required.Requires general knowledge of computers and related software; knowledge of disc golf rules, customs, and culture; general knowledge of standard office practices and procedures; good organizational skills; ability to complete assignments accurately and prior to the established deadline; skill in the operation of common office equipment; familiarity and comfort with basic landscaping and power tools; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to maintain and establish effective working relationships with others; ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions; ability to acquire knowledge of Town of Cary policies, procedures, and the services of the department; ability to work independently in a natural park setting; ability to interact with the public tactfully and constructively. Education and ExperienceMust be at least 21 years of age. 
Requires a combination of education or experience equivalent to a high school diploma/GED. Some coursework or experience in recreation/sport management preferred.
Experience working with Microsoft and Google applications preferred.
Some experience with natural resource management, general landscaping, and/or basic carpentry preferred.Experience with disc golf preferred.
Physical Requirements
Physical requirements will vary upon assignment. Some assignments will require the ability to move about on rough terrain, or work in outdoor environments in inclement weather. Other assignments will require the ability to lift or move heavy objects, such as supplies or equipment. Assignments that are primarily clerical and indoor in nature may require sitting and use of a computer for extended time periods.
 
Conditions of Employment
Requires possession of a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
Requires drug testing and background check (which may include criminal check, education verification and credit history review) prior to employment.
