About the position:
TJFACT is seeking a Sr. Staff Accountant to support our Corporate Office in Atlanta, GA .
The Sr. Staff Accountant will be responsible for A/R filing, billing and A/R & G/L reconciliations, process development, audits, etc.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Participate in Financial standards settings and forecast process.
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems, procedures and provide input into the department's goal setting process.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Develop financial models through benchmarking and process analysis.
  • Prepare cost projections and recommend adjustments to meet expectations.
  • Analyze and report on current financial status, present risk, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct thorough research of historical financial data.
  • Coordinate with senior leadership team on long-term financial planning.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial information and investment decisions.
  • Overcome price concerns and other objections by demonstrating value.
  • Manage reconciliation of the accounts receivable ledger to ensure that all payments are accounted for and properly posted.
  • Calculate and submit retroactive billing for closed audit years.
  • Manage reconciliation unbilled receivables, troubleshoot, and resolve out of balance accounts.
  • Perform a detailed analysis and reconciliation of billed amounts versus recorded revenue.
  • Responsible for audit requests by external public auditors, and internal audit as necessary.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or equivalent
  • Familiar with calculating invoices using Deltek Costpoint or other ERP systems.
  • 5 year(s) of experience in AR and/or AP
  • Proven experience as a Financial Analyst, Staff Accountant, or similar role
  • Experience working with Government Contracts; particularly with the management and reconciliations of customer accounts strongly preferred.
  • Experience utilizing the government's Wide Area Workflow tool (WAWF)
  • Ability to present financial data using detailed reports and charts.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across functional boundaries.
  • Must be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Microsoft Excel Skills (VLOOKUP, Match Index, Macros, and Pivot Tables)
  • Ability to work on a self-initiated basis; ability to prioritize multiple demands and meet deadlines.
  • Efficient, detail oriented, with a high level of accuracy.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and month end/year end close process.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Working knowledge of payroll taxes, highly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of accounting laws and regulations, highly preferred.
