JOB TITLE: CORPS PROGRAM ASSISTANT
The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a full-time, hourly job opening for a Corps Program Assistant, located in Orlando, FL.
Pay Range: $17.05 - $19.18
Job Summary
Assists the Corps officers or other Corps Programming personnel in developing, administering, coordinating, and leading a variety of Corps programs; assists in coordinating and participating in outreach efforts and programs to assist the youth in the community; drives as necessary to support Corps events.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of The Salvation Army mission and philosophy. Knowledge of general office practices and procedures. Knowledge of basic Bible principles. Knowledge of basic mathematics. Knowledge of geographic area serviced in order to schedule pick-ups efficiently. Ability to organize and coordinate worship services and special events. Ability to supervise and coordinate work of Corps members, volunteers, and staff. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to lead and motivate the work of subordinate employees. Ability to assist the public in a polite and professional manner. Ability to build and maintain professional and effective working relationships with bus drivers. Ability to serve as an example of Salvationism and Christian stewardship and to demonstrate interest in the spiritual well-being of all personnel. Ability to conduct all activities of the position with a view to accomplishing the Army’s fundamental purpose of proclaiming Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, which purpose must find expression in both the message proclaimed and the ministry of service performed. Ability to become and remain certified to drive Salvation Army vehicles per insurance requirements.
Education and Experience
High School diploma or G.E.D. AND two years’ experience participating in ministerial work desirable, OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licenses and Certifications
Approved background check required. Valid State Driver’s License. Valid State of Florida Commercial Driver's License may be required if Corps vehicles include school bus size vehicle. (Must meet the guidelines provided by the state, DOT, and the automobile insurance provider as pertaining these vehicles.) Must be a uniform wearing Salvationist in good standing to meet program requirements
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to perform mathematical calculations. Ability to read and follow a map and/or hand-written directions. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of the work time. Duties are usually performed by a combination of sitting, walking, and/or driving a motor vehicle. Duties may also require the ability to lead and participate in recreational and/or athletic/sports programs. Work is performed in a normal office environment with some exposure to outdoor temperatures and driving a vehicle in moderate to heavy traffic.
