Job Summary Assist in supervising store employees and participates in the day‐to‐day operations of the store and arehouse ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures; ensures the accountability and security of cashier funds; maintains the neatness and attractiveness of store merchandise ensuring that displays remain well‐stocked; assists customer in locating items and prices and explains store policy; assists employees in resolving routine problems and performing special assignments; assumes the responsibilities of the Store Manager when needed. Assistant Store Manager Responsibilities: Assists the Store Manager in supervising the day‐to‐day operations of the store and warehouse area, assists in developing employee work schedules; trains and instructs employees in the proper methods and procedures; monitors work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established policies and procedures. Assists in supervising cashier activities and participates in the cashier activities ensuring that all customers are treated in a polite and friendly manner; assists store clerks in ringing up, recording, and receipting sales; assists store clerks in resolving problems; ensures the security and accountability of the cashier funds; assists in preparing daily sales reports and bank deposits. Assists customers in locating items and prices; assists customers donating items; explains store policy and ensures compliance with the same. Assists in supervising and participates in rag outs, color coordination and restocking clothes; maintains the store and furniture displays; arranges, rotates, and re‐stocks displayed items to ensure the displays remain in a plentiful, neat and orderly manner for customer convenience and store attractiveness. Assists in supervising the unloading of incoming donations in the warehouse; ensures that items are properly sorted, stocked, and/or discarded in accordance with established policies and procedures; inspects appliances and furniture for needed repairs. Prepares, maintains files and various store reports, records, forms and other similar; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same. Assists and serves as back‐up to all store personnel including but not limited to cashiers, store clerks and warehouse personnel. Reviews and submits timesheets and other payroll information for all store personnel under his/her supervision for the timely processing of payroll on a bi‐weekly basis. Opens and closes the store, in accordance with established procedures, on a regular basis Maintains a positive working atmosphere by acting and communicating in a professional manner that will establish and promote a professional working relationship with vendors, donors, customers, beneficiaries, co‐workers and management. Ability to accurately and timely perform routine mathematical computations and count change. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Education and Experience High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred and experience working in a retail store preferred or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Certifications None Physical Requirements Ability to meet attendance requirements. Limited physical effort required associated with sitting, walking, standing, lifting, bending, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, 75% to 100% of the work time and carrying light objects (typically less than 25 lbs.) 75‐100% of work time. Working Conditions Work is performed in a normal store environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with weather changes.
