3rd shift (11PM-7AM) Mon-Fri with some weekend work

Role: The process technician is responsible for starting up plastic extrusion lines, trouble shooting any problems that occur during setup or production, and monitoring extrusion lines during runs. This person will use a logical, methodical approach to determine root cause of equipment malfunction and make the necessary repairs. If the repairs go beyond their abilities, they will communicate in detail to engineering or maintenance and assist with the repairs. This person will also assist supervisors in execution of the production plan.

Main Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Setup new dies and profile sizers on extrusion lines, measure extruded parts to ensure they meet quality specifications
• Troubleshoot machines and set-ups to tune machines to make quality product. Use mechanical skills and critical thinking to scientifically determine root cause of defects
• Inspect machines for proper set-up, perform first piece inspection and in-process inspections as required using measurement gauges such a calipers
• Breakdown extrusion setup and prepare machine to be offline – remove and clean die, prep and maintain extrusion equipment
• Total responsibility to eliminate non-conformance within quality of products
• Responsible for cleaning and maintaining dies
• Review schedule daily and lead changeovers
• Actively create and ensure a safe work environment – understand safety devices, and operate machinery to prevent personal injury or damage to the tools
• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance functions Maintain 5S standards
• All other related duties as directed by Supervisor

• Machines, tools and equipment used: extruders, dies, hand tools, measuring gages, shanklins
• Materials used: PVC, purge material

Profile:

• Education:   High school diploma or GED required. Prefer degree/certificate from college or technical school.
• Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
  • Prior experience with plastic extrusion
  • Very high mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to troubleshoot electro/mechanical assemblies
  • Ability to use a multimeter to check voltage, resistance and continuity
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical issues with engineering and maintenance departments
  • Work Keys Scores of Math 4, Locating Information 4, Reading for Information 4
  • Software: ASI System and NCR Database
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to work overtime when necessary
  • Able to stand the majority of the work day
  • Able to perform repetitive job functions; hand mobility, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
