The Research Foundation for the State University of New York at Buffalo State is Hiring a Human Resource Assistant Near Buffalo, NY

The Research Foundation for SUNY (RF) is SUNY's authorized representative for externally funded grants, contracts and other agreements. Sponsored Programs Administration (SPA) works closely with faculty to oversee the submission of grant proposals and manages awarded funds to ensure compliance with all relevant policies and procedures.

SPA is seeking a dynamic individual to act as the primary point of contact for payroll and other various human resource functions.

Summary of position: Primarily responsible for the collection, entry, and monitoring of new personnel assignment information and current personnel change information, using the Research Foundation Oracle Business System for payroll processing and HR process monitoring. Additionally responsible for the oversight of the HR office electronic filing system and other related duties.

Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for the review, approval, and processing of all new appointments in the RF Business system; ensuring appropriate documentation is received and the appointment is compliant with RF, state, federal, and sponsor regulations; conduct appropriate background checks and e-verifications as required
  • Responsible for the review, approval, and processing of all changes to existing appointments in the RF business system; ensuring compliance with RF, state, federal, and sponsor regulations
  • Responsible for administration and monitoring of the RF payroll, which includes monitoring of payroll activity reports and inputting payroll adjustments.
  • Oversee the hourly payroll process and the collection of time and attendance documents.
  • Maintain human resource information records
  • Provide customer service to Project Directors and employees
  • Process unemployment claims
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned

Requirements:

  • Attention to detail and the ability to work with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to work in a diverse, deadline driven environment
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to research and analyze various type of data information and to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, using judgment consistent with standards, practices, policies procedures, regulation or government law
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Must have computer skills and the ability to learn HRIS system (Oracle)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree or higher
  • Prior experience in higher education administration
  • Proficiency in navigating business systems and electronic documents
  • Demonstrated knowledge working in a human resource setting

Job Related Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work on a computer for long periods of time
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time

Travel Requirements:

  • Less than 5% of the year
