FeedMore Western New York, Inc is Hiring a Nutrition Resource Manager Near Buffalo, NY

Description

Summary of Duties:

The Nutrition Resource Manager (NRM) is responsible for meeting objectives to provide safe, nutritious food and nutrition education to vulnerable populations across FeedMore WNY's (FM) service area. The NRM performs a significant role in developing, coordinating and implementing the New York State Hunger Prevention Nutrition Assistance Program (HPNAP) initiatives in nutrition and food resource management.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides timely daily customer service to partner agencies, including support for training and other requests.
  • Supervises the Just Say Yes to Fruits and Vegetables staff and program.
  • Documents and reconciles all HPNAP Food Grant activity and participates as an active member on its committee(s)
  • Administers the HPNAP Food Safety and Sanitation and Client Choice Project.
  • Provides education and technical assistance to emergency food relief organizations focusing on nutrition, food safety, use of FM products/services, resource management to ensure quality, cost-effective food is available to clients in need.
  • Provides technical nutrition assistance to FM Food Committee; actively assists product procurement team plan purchases.
  • Evaluates foods for compliance with HPNAP nutrition policies, safety, value, storage life, handling, use, and cultural relevance.
  • Performs at least five (5) HPNAP site visits monthly and performs HPNAP nutritional analysis of meals and pantry packages.
  • Participates in emergency food program community and coalition meetings.
  • Educates contractor staff and emergency food programs on the importance of providing healthy foods that support the current U.S. Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to site monitoring staff on evaluating prepared meals (soup kitchen, shelter) and food packages for compliance with HPNAP nutrition policies
  • Assists in quality control of perishable/dated food inventory; assess warehouse/food storage and handling practices.
  • Serves on the HPNAP Advisory committee and act as a liaison between FM and HPNAP.
  • Monitors food recalls through the FDA and Feeding America and effectively communicates recall protocols to agencies.
  • Provides technical assistance to FeedMore WNY staff and agencies regarding food safety including safe product handling, storage and shelf-life requirements.
  • Actively participates in HPNAP Operations Support Program and committee(s).
  • Participate in DOH, HPNAP, and NRM meetings, conference calls, and trainings
  • Manages staff/interns to include directing workflow, performance management, and other supervisory duties as necessary.
  • Focuses on supporting and helping all FM departments and priorities succeed through partnership and collaboration.
  • Assist with any and all mission work as needed and requested with some or no prior notice including, but not limited to: serving as a truck spotter, helping with FARM Market/Community Garden/Freight Farms/on and off site food distributions, preparation of meals and serving home-delivered meals. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of bachelor's degree in food service administration, community nutrition, human nutrition, dietetics, public health, health education and/or an equitable degree from an accredited institution.
  • RD/RDN or at least two (2) years of professional, community nutrition related work experience.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License with access to vehicle and be of capable of lifting 35 lbs
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; excellent math, analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solid organization and creative, independent problem solving skills with the ability to analyze information.
  • Customer service focus, responsible self-starter with team-orientation
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and interact with children and adults with different ethnic backgrounds.
