TKH General OverviewThe Knowledge House’s mission is to empower and sustain a talent pipeline of technologists, entrepreneurs, and digital leaders, who will uplift their communities out of poverty. 
The Knowledge House (TKH) approach is to (1) close gaps in the education­-to-­employment pipeline in underserved Bronx neighborhoods by teaching young adults aged 16­-24 skills to launch careers or ventures in technology, and (2) support links between local youth, tech innovation, and business development that bring positive community impact. Headquartered in the South Bronx, the poorest congressional district, TKH has served more than 1,900 students. Current core programs include our Innovation Fellowship focused on software engineering, cyber security, and digital design for adult job trainees, and our Karim Kharbouch Coding Fellowship for high school students learning computational thinking and web design.

Job SummaryThe TKH Operations Assistant will support the Operations Department with project management and systems reports and provide assistance when requested by the Directors and C-suite. They will be primarily responsible for the following activities. The schedule for this role is Monday through Friday from 10:00 am- 6:00 pm and on occasional weekends. These include, but are not limited to the following:
  1. Operations and Facilities 
    1. Responsible for keeping waiting room and work areas neat and orderly
    2. Receive and sign for office packages
    3. Welcome and greet visitors and students
    4. Comfortable operating a freight elevator
    5. Weekly trash and recycling take out
    6. Escalate any facility maintenance issues
    7. Track and restock office supplies
    8. Maintain all kitchen supplies, office supplies, and equipment
    9. Set-up and breakdown during office events
  2. People Operations and Administrative
    1. Support with in-office events and set up for in-person or hybrid meetings
    2. Maintain lines of communication amongst care team members to ensure back and front-of-house operations are aligned
    3. Provide assistance in the recruiting and hiring process, including but not limited to providing updates from the Insperity ATS dashboard, scheduling interviews, and, collecting references
    4. Support the People Operations team with the communication and delivery of employee initiatives
    5. Track time and attendance, paid time off, weekly standup form submissions, etc.
    6. Update and report on office attendance and guest sign-in
  3. Information Technology
    1. Manage our NYC office technology inventory under the supervision of the Sr. Manager of Data & Analytics
    2. Assist in updating the technology asset management system for all TKH office locations
    3. Support staff and students as they drop off and pick up technology equipment by liaising with IT and the operations team ​​​​​
Qualifications:
You’re an ideal candidate if you have:
  • 1 years of reception experience (at a nonprofit a plus)
  • Ability to work in the absence of direct supervision
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent time management & critical thinking skills
  • Tact and graciousness in dealing with the public
  • Presentable and professional
  • Friendly and calm demeanor
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Organized, analytical, and detail-oriented
  • Skilled in Word and Excel
The full-time salary range for this role will be between $52k-$55K. Benefits for full-time staff include health, dental, and vision insurance, a 2% 401k match, a monthly tech stipend, and unlimited paid time off.
