OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Sommelier to join our high-performing team at The Knickerbocker Hotel, a member of Leading Hotels of the World. You must be hard-working and strive for excellence in all areas of work. We are looking for someone that is both self-motivated and team orientated. 

The Sommelier will be expected to be actively involved in the day to day of the operation including presence on the floor during service. Responsible for the daily operations and provide professional leadership and training systems to all FOH staff members. This individual will be highly involved with service standards and guest experience.

Your primary responsibilities will be, but not limited to:

Duties: 

• Wine service and sales
• Assisting with deliveries and inventory
• Wine list maintenance
• Staff education

Experience:

• At least 2 years of Sommelier
• Experience in fine dining (NYC preferred)
• Knowledge of all major regions and production
• Court of master sommeliers certification/ ASA certification a plus but not 100% necessary

Requirements:

• Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
• Team-orientated and positive attitude
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and electronic, are required
• Well versed in Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook and can easily adapt to new technology
• Must be able to stand, walk, and/or sit for long periods of time
