Department BSD PED - Infectious Diseases - Community Health Program
About the Department The Pediatric and Adolescent HIV/AIDS Program, Care2Prevent, in the section of Pediatric Infectious Diseases provides comprehensive treatment and prevention services for people living with HIV and those who are most vulnerable to HIV infection. Job Summary The Linkage to Care Specialist (LTCS) will provide HIV/STI testing, results notification and linkage to care for individuals seeking HIV/STI testing and PrEP services at Care2Prevent (C2P) or associated community spaces. This individual will be responsible for results notification, explanation of treatment options, partner elicitation and linkage to/engagement in care for those who are HIV positive or at increased vulnerability for HIV. The individual in this role will complete weekly reporting responsibilities and is expected to maintain a caseload of individuals who need follow-up, treatment or PrEP navigation, working with them to address barriers to care. The LTCS will collaborate with community organizations to provide these services as well as sexual health educational workshops and activities, and they will also help with facilitation of Care2Prevent’s support groups. The LTCS will be expected to travel.
This at-will position is wholly or partially funded by contractual grant funding which is renewed under provisions set by the grantor of the contract. Employment will be contingent upon the continued receipt of these grant funds and satisfactory job performance.
Responsibilities
Perform HIV/STI testing, including collecting and managing specimens, providing results notification, and completing any mandated reporting.
Support linkage to care for HIV/STI treatment and/or PrEP by supporting clients in navigating medical and support services.
Assist with peer support groups.
Staff HIV/STI testing events offsite including aboard the Comer Hospital Pediatric Mobile Medical Unit and at community events.
Support community outreach activities, disseminating information about HIV/STI services and testing events through social media, community-based outreach, peer recruitment, network recruitment, and other channels.
Perform specific protocol procedures (specimens and data management, survey/questionnaire administration and the like) required to conduct the study and retain research subjects.
Participates in study-related documentation, such as protocol worksheets, procedural manuals, adverse event reports, institutional review board documents, or progress reports.
Performs other related work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Minimum requirements include vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field (not typically required to have a four-year degree). ---

Preferred Qualifications
Education:
GED or High School Diploma.
Experience:
1-2 years of experience working in HIV or sexual health.
1-3 years of experience working with LGBTQ , minority, and marginalized populations.
Licenses and Certifications:
Must complete phlebotomy training within 30 days of hire.
