- Repair or replace defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.-Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
- Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or perform other maintenance actions, following checklists.
- Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
- Assemble, install or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
- Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.-Record type and cost of maintenance or repair work.
- Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.-Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
- Plan and lay out repair work, using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, and schematic diagrams.-Order parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogs and suppliers, or obtain them from storerooms.
- Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.-Paint and repair roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, and other parts of building structures.
- Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.-Align and balance new equipment after installation.
- Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
- Set up and operate machine tools to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools.-Maintain and repair specialized equipment and machinery found in cafeterias, laundries, hospitals, stores, offices, or factories.
- Fabricate and repair counters, benches, partitions, or other wooden structures, such as sheds and outbuildings.-Estimate repair costs.
- Lay brick to repair and maintain buildings, walls, arches and other structures.-Grind and reseat valves, using valve-grinding machines.
- Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes-Follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring or equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem-Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
- Place conduit, pipes, or tubing, inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
- Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools.-Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors.
- Assemble, install, test, or maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, or fixtures.-Fasten small metal or plastic boxes to walls to house electrical switches or outlets.
- Perform trouble shooting on drives and PLC"s when needed.-Install 480V and 110V circuit breaker installation on a quarterly basis-Relevant vocational training,-Current electrician"s license preferred-Or an equivalent amount of education and experience-Functional knowledge of flash arc protection equipment-Ability to properly and safely operate conduit benders and other position-specific equipment-Ability to read, interpret and follow schematics-Capability to program drives and PLC"s-Functional knowledge of electrical codes-Ability to safely and properly operate tools and equipment necessary for the position-Be able to work overtime as required
