Job Summary:

The Special Education Paraprofessional will work closely with our special education teachers to support instructional activities, promote student engagement, and contribute to creating a positive and effective learning environment. This role is ideal for someone passionate about education, patient, and committed to helping students overcome challenges to succeed academically and socially.

Responsibilities:

• Support Instruction: Assist in delivering educational programs and activities under the guidance of a special education teacher.
• Classroom Management: Help manage classroom behavior, ensuring a safe and orderly environment for all students.
• Student Assistance: Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, focusing on specific educational goals or accommodations outlined in their IEPs.
• Materials Preparation: Prepare and organize learning materials and resources as directed by the lead teacher.
• Observation and Reporting: Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and staff on student performance and behavior.
• Collaboration: Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other school staff to support the overall educational and social development of students.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher preferred.
• Prior experience working with children, especially in an educational or special education setting, is highly desirable.
• Patience, understanding, and a genuine interest in working with children with special needs.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
• Must meet all state and local requirements for working in a school setting, including passing a background check.
