Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Counselor to join our team. As a Youth Counselor, you will be responsible for providing support and guidance to young individuals facing various challenges. Your role will involve utilizing your skills in special education, motivational interviewing, group therapy, data collection, working with people with developmental disabilities, conflict management, patient care, HIPAA compliance, crisis intervention, and Christian counseling.
Responsibilities:
- Provide counseling and support to youth facing emotional, behavioral, or mental health issues
- Conduct individual and group therapy sessions to address specific needs and promote personal growth
- Implement treatment plans and interventions based on assessments and evaluations
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to encourage positive change in behavior and mindset
- Collect and analyze data to monitor progress and adjust treatment strategies as needed
- Collaborate with other professionals, such as psychologists, social workers, and educators, to develop comprehensive care plans
- Assist with crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques when necessary
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations in handling sensitive patient information
- Provide Christian counseling services to individuals who desire spiritual guidance
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field
- Experience working with youth in a counseling or therapeutic setting is preferred
- Knowledge of special education principles and techniques
- Familiarity with group therapy dynamics and facilitation skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for building rapport with clients and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to manage conflicts effectively and maintain a calm demeanor in high-stress situations
- Understanding of patient care principles and commitment to maintaining confidentiality
- Knowledge of crisis intervention strategies and ability to respond quickly in emergency situations
