Position

Project Manager

  • Location: Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland
  • Security Clearance: Active Clearance or Eligible to Obtain - U.S. citizenship required
  • Salary: $145,000 - $170,000 Depending on Experience and Education
  • Travel: 10%

Position Summary

SURVICE Engineering is currently seeking a Project Manager to support our Aberdeen Research Operation. You will accelerate your career and become an integral team member within the defense community.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide Project Management of the Sciences of Extreme Materials Competency (SEMC) Integrated Product Team (IPT) in time critical technology transitions across a wide spectrum of Army and DOD weapon prototypes, subsystems, and tech data packages (TDP) to support the Army 2040 operational readiness.
  • Specialized technology areas include Advanced Manufacturing, Invincible Materials, Invisible Materials, and Super-Materials which are core-competencies research project portfolios.
  • The projects within these Sciences of Extreme Materials Division (SEMD) portfolios will use data driven machine learning (ML) where appropriate to support integrated product teams (IPTs).
  • Develop integrated time critical project plans resulting in technology transition of next generation materials and manufacturing processes for the Army and DOD weapon systems in the areas of SEMC core competency IPTs.
  • Support and track the SEMC core competency IPTs proposals and integration plans for novel materials and manufacturing to ensure successful execution leads to transition.
  • Support and track transition of emergent manufacturing technology.
  • Support and track project -teams within the SEMC core competency IPTs to execute large complex technology programs; Assure that the teams have members to: execute the project, develop the necessary technology/materials/processes; qualify the deliverables as appropriate; and transition partners who will adopt the deliverables or enable the deliverables to be used through appropriate specs and standards.
  • Develop, support, and track processes to rapidly qualify new processes or materials for the Army and DOD weapon system applications under the SEMC core competency IPTs. Note that for the Army qualification will often include qualification under ballistic and shock conditions.
  • Ensure that any necessary specs and standards are updated to include the new materials as available to design and sustainment of Army systems.

Minimum Qualifications of Project ManagerBachelor's Degree in STEM Related Field and 10 years of relevant experience, Master's of Science Degree in STEM related field and 6 years of relevant experience, or PhD and 3 years of relevant experience. Exceptional candidates with less experience will be considered. Candidates are not required to possess all qualifications; if you possess some of the desired qualifications, please apply.

  • Experience in planning, managing, and executing basic and applied research programs/projects using machine learning (ML) supporting the design, development, assessment, and transition of innovative processing science and manufacturing technologies.
  • Experience writing proposals, reports, technical program summaries, and presentations.
  • Experience in supporting manufacturing technology development projects.
  • Knowledge or experience in advanced manufacturing including additive manufacturing.
  • Knowledge or experience in aspects of materials (metals, ceramics, glasses, polymers, or composites) manufacturing, nondestructive inspection techniques, passive armor, and materials characterization.
