The Sunwater Institute’s current programs focus on improving government performance, preserving and advancing constitutional rights and liberties, strengthening and enlarging property rights, and exploring the foundations of group decision-making.

The Sunwater Institute’s interdisciplinary, long-term orientation and focus on the building blocks of social systems sets it apart as a haven for bold, fresh ideas and free, constructive dialogue. The Sunwater Institute is located in North Bethesda and maintains a presence on Capitol Hill.

POSITION

The Sunwater Institute is seeking a Federal Account Manager who will be responsible for managing business development with Federal Agencies. The individual will be responsible for selling the Sunwater Institute’s digital platform, Legis1, and other legislative products. The individual in this position will be directly responsible for expanding our customer base by working directly with clients and prospects to learn their goals and establish how The Sunwater Institute can meet them. The ideal candidate will have strong sales and account management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Qualifying and responding to inbound leads and prospects via phone and email
  • Holding virtual and in-person trainings and demonstrations of Sunwater’s revenue-generating products with the end goal of earning a prospect’s business
  • Prospecting new sales by outreach to federal agencies and unearthing new sales opportunities through networking and business development
  • Communicating with clients and prospects gathering information about their needs, budgets, and timelines
  • Organizing regular client meetings to ensure excellent account management
  • Collaborating with key decision makers to identify opportunities and develop ideas that deliver sales results
  • Attending trade shows, networking events, and hosting customer events
  • Reporting and recording all sales activities in a web-based CRM system
Requirements
  • Interest in the Sunwater Institute’s mission
  • Prior sales experience is strongly preferred
  • Strong ability to build relationships and foster account growth
  • Must be able to work independently to develop sales opportunities
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-starter who is results-driven and wants to make valuable contributions to a growing team
  • Problem-solver with a keen ability to prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong understanding of databases and digital subscription products
  • Exposure to, or experience in sales to government, politics, policy, or advocacy/government relations organizations such as working on a political campaign, on the hill, or in an advocacy/lobbying firm would be preferred would be preferred
