TITLE: Dispatcher
LOCATION: Houston
POSITION REPORTS TO: Dispatch Manager
SCHEDULE: Night shift. 6pm-6am. 7-day schedule; must be able to work weekends and extended shifts, must have a flexible schedule.
COMPENSATION: Commensurate with experience
RESPONSIBILITIES
*Ensure a high level of service is maintained and delivery expectations are met, while maximizing efficiencies relative to customer needs
*Coordinate, schedule and dispatch drivers to appropriate locations according to orders, customer requests or specifications
*Ensure drivers arrive within scheduled timeframe as instructed by customer
*Identify priorities and utilize available resources effectively to meet these priorities
*Communicate effectively with customers, drivers, supervisors and co-workers, providing concise instruction or information
*Use effective listening skills to collect required information and escalate pertinent information
*Data entry and heavy volume of phone calls
*Confer with customers and/or other personnel to address questions, problems, and requests for service or equipment
*Assist drivers and keep coworkers informed of daily activities
*Other tasks and projects as assigned by manager
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
*Must have strong mathematical skills with calculating percentages and mileage
*Experience working in the transportation industry or Basic understanding of Logistics/Transportation industry
*Willingness to work onsite (must live within 60 miles)
*Must have a flexible schedule, and be able to work nights and weekends
*Must be motivated, able to communicate effectively with co-workers and management and work well in a team environment
*Excellent organizational skills and a keen attention to detail, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple deadlines
*Excellent data entry skills
*Stable past employment history
*Professional appearance and demeanor
*Strong proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word programs
PREFERRED
*1 year experience dispatching product
*Experience working as a dispatcher in the fuel transportation industry
*Smartlogix experience
*SAP experience
