Summit Pathology Administrative Assistant

Summit Pathology is looking to add a motivated and enthusiastic member to our Administrative Department as an Administrative Assistant. The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for day to day support of the Administrative Team, Summit Pathology's Pathologists, clients and patients through handling of cases for consult, continuing care and additional testing, triaging phone calls, and assisting in clerical work for all departments.

Hours: 9:00a-5:00p

Salary: $20/hourWho We Are:

Summit Pathology is an independent pathology laboratory, owned by a group of board-certified pathologists. We have been serving hospital systems and physician offices in Colorado, Wyoming, and Nebraska for more than thirty five years. With a variety of subspecialties, Summit Pathology offers world class expertise, state of the art disease detection and exceptional customer service. We take pride in providing outstanding general surgical pathology as well as high level expertise in additional areas such as breast pathology, cytopathology, hematopathology (including flow cytometry), gastrointestinal pathology, dermatopathology, transfusion medicine, microbiology and clinical chemistry.

As an Administrative Assistant, you will be responsible for:

  • Pulling, ordering, and sending slides and reports for various tumor board conferences to the represented SPL Pathologists.
  • Pulling slides & blocks for requests and consults as needed.
  • Ordering send out cases into the appropriate portal system. Documenting and communicating all actions for each sendout case. 
  • Quality control of all sendout cases. 
  • Routine follow up of cases sent for consultation, and incomplete cases pending results, blocks, or slides.
  • Answering phones, forwarding calls, and taking messages.
  • Fulfilling supply orders to send out to clients, logging completed orders for billing.
  • Filing of pathology requisitions and courier tracking logs, and organization of filing cabinets containing requisitions and tracking logs.
  • Printing reports for courier transport to appropriate clinic.
  • Printing and packaging of patient letters to be mailed out.
  • Handling of billing and patient queues in LIS system.
  • Pulling and printing monthly and quarterly reports.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Education/experience: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. Prefer Associate Degree or Higher.
  • Previous administrative assistant experience in a clinical or healthcare setting preferred.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation. Must be comfortable answering and triaging phone calls.
  • Able to adhere to HIPAA guidelines for patient confidentiality.
  • Attention to detail in composing, typing, and proofing materials, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines.
  • Good to excellent spelling, grammar, and written communication skills.
  • Exhibit high level of professionalism when interacting with patients, clients, and physicians. 
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills to help you to evaluate the problem and to make decisions.
