A Laboratory Support Assistant is at the core of the all laboratory operations by organizing the delivery of kits to collect specimens, assisting scientists in accessioning specimens and maintaining supplies as well as equipment to support all testing services. On a day to day basis LSAs will be reviewing and processing a high-volume workload while providing outstanding customer service to all of our stakeholders including local, state, and federal government entities as well as the general public. What you’ll do:

• Gain a thorough working knowledge and understanding of Federal HIPAA requirements, Shipment of Dangerous Goods, and general laboratory practices.
• Build, Refurbish, Place, Receive, organize, identify collection kits for specimens.
• Process specimens or packages received at the laboratory for delivery to their intended units and receive internal packages/specimens for delivery outside of the laboratory.
• Pickup, transport, and process different kinds of waste produced by testing units at the laboratory.
• Opening and accessioning laboratory specimens to prepare them for processing by testing units.
• Work closely with agencies or individuals submitting specimens to answer questions regarding result reports, turnaround times, or collection kits.
• Use Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) to enter provider, patient, and demographic information for all specimens and samples submitted to the laboratory.

All you need for success:

Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and 0-1 year of experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
• Willing to work in a team environment
