The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs, Minnesota Veterans Home - Minneapolis has an opening fortwo (2) full-time Registered Nurse Supervisor. This position assists the Nursing Management team by providing clinical expertise and supervisory guidance to the Nursing Department to ensure quality care delivery.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume/application clearly describes your experience in the areas listed below, and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held. Only applicants whose resumes clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for this position.

  • Current Minnesota Registered Nurse License.
  • Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Nurse working in a skilled nursing facility AND either 1) one year of experience leading professional-level nursing staff (i.e. charge nurse, lead nurse, or officer of the day); OR 2) six (6) months of experience supervising professional-level nursing staff.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to skilled nursing facilities and state survey.
  • Excellent communication skills sufficient to convey information in formal, informal, group, and one-on-one capacities.
  • Ability to supervise, coordinate, and direct employees and to develop quality patient care plans.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and implement federal and state regulations and MDVA policies and procedures.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or ability to obtain certification within the probation period.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Four (4) years of experience as a Registered Nurse working in a skilled nursing facility.
  • Three (3) years of experience leading and or supervising professional-level nursing staff.
  • Experience with Quality Assurance Performance Improvement processes.
  • Experience using a clinical software documentation systems.
  • Experience with behavioral management.

Additional Requirements

This position also requires successful completion of the following:

  • A Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check will be conducted on finalists for this position. When conducted, a finalist must pass the DHS background check.
  • A Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening (or chest x-ray) is required prior to employment.
  • Employment reference checks will be conducted on finalists. This may include a review of documentation related to job performance and contact with the applicant's former employer(s).
