State of Alaska is Hiring a Procurement Specialist 4 Near Anchorage, AK

This position is currently located in Juneau
. The position may be in Anchorage or Juneau, depending upon the location of the most qualified candidate.
What you will be doing:
As the Procurement Specialist 4 you will have an exciting opportunity to manage, develop, and administer complex commodity purchases and professional service contracting procurements, as well as alternate procurements, exemptions, and intergovernmental agreements in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures for the Department of Health. The successful candidate for this role will be responsible for providing support to the Procurement Manager, assisting in providing leadership and guidance to the department procurement staff, providing excellent customer service, offering guidance to leadership, and being an effective problem-solver. Additionally, you will be responsible for assisting the Procurement Manager in compiling reports, summaries, status updates, and developing work plans to support complex inquiries that may involve multiple procurements and stakeholders. This is a challenging and rewarding position that would allow you to play a key role in the procurement process of the Department of Health!

The working environment you can expect:
The DOH procurement team presently has a hybrid telecommuting option but staff are expected to be in the office at least one day per week. The initial training period will require you to be in the office full-time. Our main office is in Juneau, on the 3rd floor of the Alaska Office Building, downtown Juneau. We are within easy walking distance of two grocery stores, restaurants, cafés, shops, walking trails, and the Juneau waterfront. Our space is bright and comfortable, with a waterfront view, lots of natural light, and a central table to gather to meet, discuss, collaborate, snack, etc. We will also consider the right applicant in Anchorage and have office space in the Frontier Building in mid-town Anchorage.

Any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and/or progressively responsible professional level experience in business administration, logistics, supply chain management, project management, or a related field performing property control, purchasing, contract administration, writing or approving solicitations, explaining contracting requirements, developing or approving product specifications or, developing or approving a scope of work for professional services.
Special Note:
“Competencies” means a combination of interrelated knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors that enable a person to act effectively in a job or situation.
“Typically gained by” means the prevalent, usual method of gaining the competencies expected for entry into the job.
“Training” and “education” in this guidance are synonyms for the process of acquiring knowledge and skills through instruction.
