State Department is Hiring a Program Manager Near New York, NY

Bachelor’s degree plus four years of professional experience.
  • Substitutions: Four years of professional experience or associate’s degree and two years of professional experience may substitute for bachelor’s degree; J.D. or master’s degree may substitute for one year of professional experience; Ph.D. may substitute for two years of professional experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in the formulation, operation, and/or evaluation of program policies related to faith-based communities; demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to faith-based issues and nuances; and experience with administration and management of grant programs.
Duties Description
The Program Manager in the Office of Faith & Nonprofit Development Services supports nonprofit organizations and serves communities across the state, assisting faith-based and nonprofit organizations in applying for grants from state agencies; providing informational resources for faith-based and nonprofit organizations to build their capacity to provide effective services, improve performance and increase sustainability; and creating a network of organizations to better coordinate efforts, build coalitions and develop effective partnerships. Reporting to the Director of Faith & Nonprofit Development Services, the Program Managers are responsible for ensuring that various operational projects are successfully coordinated and executed in a timely manner. The Program Managers are also charged with helping contributors to projects think through necessary aspects and to proactively track and follow up on assigned duties and tasks, and act as a conduit for information from and to the Director, ensuring that information about the status of various projects is flowing as needed.
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Respond to public information inquiries on faith-based and nonprofit matters and services.
  • Participate in and support statewide outreach initiatives involving sensitive faith-based and nonprofit issues.
  • Assist in the execution of projects by documenting, tracking, and escalating issues through resolution.
  • Assist in providing support and/or data for external partners as requested.
  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings with the Director, and help with documentation and action items.
  • Provide consistent, detail-oriented, professional work products delivered within established time frames.
  • Attend meetings with state agencies, advocates, the legislature, and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Track progress of assignments, execution of projects, and completion of deliverables.

The positions may be located in either Albany or NYC, and travel is expected between the two locations, as well as other areas of NYS, as needed.
Salary within the listed range will be commensurate with education and experience, and degree to which preferred qualifications are met. If assigned to the NYC office, an additional $3,087 location pay will be added to compensation.
