What you’ll do:

The Microsoft Systems Engineer is our Microsoft Server and VMWare technical subject matter expert possessing solid hands-on experience with system architectures providing full-lifecycle support, operational security, configuration management, automation, monitoring and capacity management. This position requires a strong background in architecting, running and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows based infrastructure at scale including designing and running platforms that deliver on high availability, fault tolerance and security..

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure consistent platform/service availability for responsible systems hosted on-premise and in the cloud across all key technologies.
• Install, maintain and secure enterprise server hardware and operating systems, including Microsoft Windows Server, VMware and Cloud Services Providers (AWS, Google, Azure).
• Deploy automation technologies and procedures to support on-premise and cloud-based infrastructure and applications. Drive operational efficiencies by automating and improving existing repetitive and manual processes.
• Create and execute packages and applications within Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).
• Maintain installed OS, application packages and device firmware within the environment to ensure all requisite security update
• Identify, collect, monitor, analyze and report upon system performance data to improve platform performance, availability and capacity management. This includes familiarity with monitoring and administrative platforms, such as MS SCCM, VMWare/vCenter, Foglight.
• Provide consulting to internal customers (e.g. developers, project management, other technology providers) to assist with complex platform-related architecture, implementation and operational support issues.
• Under general supervision, manage and lead infrastructure projects related to installation and upgrades of the SiriusXM technology environment.
• Monitor and execute data backups, data replication tasks across various platforms to ensure data recoverability, fault tolerance and disaster recovery efforts.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies, hardware, software and processes to meet our project responsibilities and for on-going operational support of our technology environment.
• Provide 24*7 On call support based on rotation within the team, including answering off-hour support pages consistently within 30 minutes and with engaged response within one hour when on-call to ensure continuity of operations within the environment.
• Perform other duties as required and assigned.

What you’ll need:

• Degree/Diploma in Computer Science/IT related discipline and/or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
• Minimum 3 to 5 years of working experience as a Windows Servers administrator or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Microsoft Certification preferred.
• ITIL Certification preferred
• Good public speaking and presentation skills.
• Interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with staff at all levels.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to pay attention to details and be organized.
• Ability to project professionalism over the phone and in person.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to “internal client” and customer service principles.
• Willingness to take initiative and to follow through on projects.
• Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task, and work under shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Must have legal right to work in the U.S.

Technical Skills:

• Significant technical background and hands-on experience with Windows Server OS design, administration, configuration, security, Active Directory and Domain Management, Group Policy Management, automation and packaging of Windows Server OS and platform applications.
• Strong PowerShell scripting skills with a specialization in one or more modules (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, PowerCLI (vSphere).
• Eight or more years of experience with Windows Server Operating Systems and a strong background in Active Directory.
• Server Hardware configuration and maintenance experience.
• Software packaging, installation, maintenance experience.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes.
• Development of test cases/procedures and training documentation.
• Strong TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and SMTP knowledge.
• Command line and strong automation skillset based upon infrastructure as code concepts.
• Strong problem solving and root cause analysis.
• Must have legal right to work in the US.
